Pics: The Kids

We had a busy weekend. I found out that I'm going to be playing in a softball league and was supposed to play on Friday night. I got all excited only to have the game postponed because the field was too wet. Lenae still had soccer practice. Afterwards, we ventured off to Wendy's for the kids while Raechel and I ordered from Pei Wei's (chinese) next door and enjoyed a nice meal. Raechel and I attempted to watch the last Star Wars afterwards, but I ended up falling asleep trying to help Hallie.

Saturday was an even busier day. Lenae had a game at 10 followed by Collin at noon and Maddy at 1 pm. Lenae's team did a lot better and ended up tieing 0-0. Lenae played a little offense, defense and goalie and even made a save. Collin hit the ball both times and got 2 RBI's (not that they are keeping track). The big surprise is that both teams actually made outs not through a strike out. I think they surprised themselves. Collin moved around in the field and was playing right field when the ball bounced up and hit him in the nose. I think it surprised him more than anything. He ran off the field to me and he was scratched a bit and looked like a little blood but he was fine. Thankfully, they are still using cushioned balls. We found out that his coach and her son are members ( in the other ward). We hurried back over to Maddy's game and I caught the 2nd half. Her team won 4-1 and Maddy also played goalie, offense and defense and made some good kicks. Collin and I ventured off later for our normal hair cuts and stopped by Coldstone Creamery for a little father-son time. Maddy made dinner for use (homemade macaroni and cheese) and everyone liked it. Hallie fell asleep during the day, so we ended up having a long night with her.

Today proved to be a busy day as well. We got up late but did end up getting to church before sacrament meeting started. We had the sister missionaries over for lunch, so we made breakfast for lunch. We had waffles with homemade whipping cream, scrambled eggs, maple bacon and juice. We all enjoyed the meal. Our home teacher came over later and then we stopped by a new family's house in the ward. They live about 5 houses down across the street and have a 7 year old, 10 month old (adopted) and 4 month old. We had a nice visit.

Hope all are enjoying spring like weather.

Love,
Wayne

I thought I would add a post just so Ed and Alisha aren't the only ones writing. Hope you are all doing well. My Mom had a scare and was hospitalized, but has since been released. She has a condition that I cannot repeat, but amounted to infection in her colon. While this was still serious, it was a great blessing that it wasn't any more serious.

We're hitting flu season in Texas. Lenae had it this week and stayed home from school four days. So far, no one else has been overwhelmed by symptoms, but I suspect they are lingering. I went and played basketball a couple of weeks ago and my back is still suffering. I certainly am not as young or as fit as I thought I once was.

Raechel is preparing for a half marathon next weekend in Fort Worth. She's already run that distance. She has made some friends in the ward through running.

Work has had its quite interesting experiences. However, I see some similarities with Romney's unsuccessful run for the presidency. It probably wasn't very likely that he would actually win. I don't know if he honestly believed he would win. However, his run certainly raised all kinds of attention on the church, both good and bad. However, if the gospel and church are to fill the whole earth, we cannot hide in the closet. It would have been much easier for me to take another assignment at work!

We've signed the the older kids for sports. Maddy and Lenae will be playing soccer for the first time and Collin will be playing baseball. Hopefully, their games won't be all at the same time.

I look forward to seeing everyone hopefully this summer.

Taller than many kids, Madeleine Shelton shoulders her backpack and waits politely to climb onto the school bus. She is a friendly and enthusuastic third grader who loves to read books and frequents the school and Daphne libraries whenever she can. In addition to her studies, Madeleine enjoys taking piano and dance. She also enjoys cooking, singing and reading the scriptures. She currently has 2 sisters and one brother. Her parents agree that she is a fantastic kid and hope that she will continue to keep up the good work!

Dinner | Posted by hewett_admin on 06 Jul 2005
We went out to the country today to visit our Wednesday friends. Later when I asked Lenae what she liked best about her day, she said: "Eating dinner at Baskoes.(Vasko's) She makes really good food."
