I spent the last few hours updating the site so it's more user friendly and visually appearing. However, I'm still working out a few kinks so please let me know if you come across anything weird.
Hewett Family Quotes
I wish trees could move around. Just imagine, one morning you wake up and right there in your front yard is a giant redwood. Of course everyone using septic systems would end up with a yard full of willow trees...

Why I love Spring | Posted by alisha on 09 May 2008 May Pictures-the flowers are in full bloom. so much color and beauty!
-of course, that is inside the house as well as outside. i said to ed tonight that i love all the plants and flowers in the house that make me feel so cozy. i just love being surrounded by beauty.
-i have found multiple ladybugs on my buttercup flowers in the garden. this is a big deal since the last two years i have had to purchase the ladies. they don't stick around as much as i would like when they are shipped in from california. so i am ecstatic about finding so many volunteers so early in the season.
-garden helpers. Roger, Cerita, my mom, and the girls have all lent a helping hand in the garden. there is nothing like dirt therapy to help me feel productive and at peace.
-warm sunshine. there is a huge difference between windy sunny days and warm sunny days; i prefer the warm ones.
there is so much that i have enjoyed this last week. i guess i am giving myself the time (as much as i can) to be contemplative. it has, for the most part, been a quiet week, and i have loved the Peace and Comfort i have felt. i hope you are each enjoying this change of season and appreciate all that we have been given.Comments: Add | PermalinkWith Gratitude | Posted by alisha on 04 May 2008 Jackson's Funeral
the services were short and perfect. my dad, ed's dad and Ed spoke. our bishop dedicated jackson's grave. i was grateful for the thoughts they shared and i felt that ed did a perfect job expressing my feelings as well (thanks for not asking me to do that myself, ed).
ed and i were able to go back and visit the grave site later that evening and have a good cry. we feel so much peace over all, but a good cry is still in order, daily.
so thank you all for your love - we are eternally grateful.Comments: Add | PermalinkJackson Asher Hewett | Posted by alisha on 01 May 2008 Jackson Asher Hewett
thank you to everyone who has expressed sorrow and care. we aren't answering the phone simply because we can't speak (just tears). maybe next week, next month, who knows. but thank you, we feel very loved.
i will post more pictures later today, but here is one of our perfect baby boy.
Dear Ones,
I talked with Ed and he seems like he is sad but doing ok. He explained that Alisha had a fairly easy delivery and that she is at peace. He had given her a blessing a couple of weeks ago and said that now they understood the full meaning of that blessing. Their baby boy weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and succumbed as a result of a knotted cord. Alisha's mother is there so Alisha, Ed, and the girls are receiving loving care.
…
How grateful we are for the comfort of the gospel at this time of loss and in the days to come. Our knowledge of Eternal Families, the reality of the Atonement and Resurrection, the saved state of little children, love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and the comfort of the Holy Ghost brings peace in such trying times. May our faithful prayers and loving communications support Ed, Alisha, and family now and in the coming days.
…
Love, Cerita
Dear family,
I just wanted to update you on the situation with Alisha's baby. For those who haven't heard, he was stillborn today.
Yesterday Alisha had a busy day and noticed that the baby hadn't moved much. By night time she was very concerned and went to the hospital to be checked at the request of her doctor. The news was the worst. He had died. I had just returned from New Zealand a few hours earlier and she called at 2 in the morning to let us know. We rushed down to the hospital where I spent the morning with she and Ed as she delivered the baby. It was a very easy birth (compared to the girls) and we really felt the presence of the Lord comforting us throughout the day.
Baby "Jackson Asher Hewett" was 7 lbs 5 oz, 20 1/2" long and looked like a perfect blend of Isabel and Elena with Ed's nose, eyes, and long fingers and toes. He is adorable and perfect. … The cord was tightly wrapped around his neck twice, and with a knot in it. … It has been a bitter sweet day. The hospital staff was wonderful and very kind and helpful.
We are now at their home and trying to make burial arrangements. They would appreciate no calls for a while. It's just too hard to talk about it right now. If you want to send emails to them, I'm sure they would appreciate it. … They certainly don't want anyone to feel like they need to attend the graveside service. They would almost rather keep things small so that it will be easier on them emotionally. But they want to extend an invite to anyone who really feels like they would like to be there.
Please keep their little family in your prayers.
Love to all, Wendy

i have to admit, i was a bit nostalgic rolling her hair into the very same curlers i used as a kid. she was really patient and even willing to sleep "on the bumps". it was well worth it, as you will see in the pictures.
also, as a side note: i fixed the gallery from the last post (spring pictures). sorry about the goof-up, the website is being picky and ed is WAY TOO BUSY to work on something i can just reload.
